Department of Older Persons (DOP) is a department under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. It was established on March 6th, 2015 in according to the Reorganization of Ministries, Sub-Ministries, and Department Act (issue 14th , B.E. 2558). The missions are to enhance and develop older persons’ capability, welfare provision, and rights protection by proposing policies, developing academic measures, mechanisms, knowledge, and innovation. DOP also academically supports and works in the target areas with collaboration from related sectors; the Department of Local Administration, Elderly clubs, as partners for ageing development. Moreover,  DOP monitors and evaluates with the Social Welfare Development Centers for Older Persons and Learning and Training Center for Older Persons, Chonburi Province which is the model and complete center for learning and developing to improve older persons’ quality of life and security.
